چکیده

A spectrophotometer cuvet is described which is emptied by suction without removal from the instrument. The use of this cuvet saves time and minimizes the chance of breakage. Data from C " measurements and absorbances of a dye solution show minimal retention error from successive specimens. expended in determining the absonbances of a large series of individual samples in a spectrophotometer can now be greatly reduced by the use of a rapidly emptying suction cuvet (Fig. 1). WiI.h the Beckman DTJ spectrophotometer, 50 samples were read by the Fit. 1. Spectrophotometer cell and sample collector; see text for explanation of parts. ID Sample tube usual procedure; use of the suction cuvet resulted in a 30% saving of time. The suction cell is designed to contain an internal small tube that reaches to the bottom of the cell and is placed so that it does not in-The suction cuvet was kimidly supplied by Echols

Modeling heat and mass transfer in laminar forced flow between parallel plates channel imposed to suction or injection

A numerical model is developed to simulate the transport phenomena in the flow channel between parallel plates with porous and non-porous (or impermeable) walls. The continuity and momentum equations were solved first, assuming the wall Reynolds number in the range of with the suction or injection of air at a speed equal to the uniform inlet velocity. The results show that at constant inlet and...

Liver suction-mediated transfection in mice using a pressure-controlled computer system.

We previously developed an in vivo tissue suction-mediated transfection method (denoted as the tissue suction method) for naked nucleic acids, such as plasmid DNA (pDNA) and small interfering RNA (siRNA), in mice. However, it remains unclear whether the suction pressure conditions affect the results of this method. Therefore, in the present study, we assembled a computer system to control the s...

Suction conditions for minimizing the production of free hemoglobin during blood salvage using an autotransfusion apparatus

BACKGROUND Three kinds of conditions should be considered to reduce free hemoglobin production using an autologous cell salvage device. They are the negative suction pressure, the size of suction tip, and the air contact during suction. We want to examine which condition is the most important factor to produce free hemoglobin. METHODS One pack of red blood cell and one pack of fresh frozen pl...

A prospective randomised comparison of cardiotomy suction and cell saver for recycling shed blood during cardiac surgery.

OBJECTIVE Post-operative neuropsychological complications correlate with intra-operative microemboli in the middle cerebral artery. When severe neurological complications follow cardiac surgery, diffuse cerebral fat emboli are present at autopsy. Recycling shed blood with cardiotomy suction is an important source of cerebral fat microemboli. A cell saver may reduce this. METHODS Twenty patien...

Cell salvage of cardiotomy suction blood improves the balance between pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines after cardiac surgery.

OBJECTIVES The inflammatory response after cardiac surgery is characterized by a profound release of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines. Recent data suggest that the balance between pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines is of greater importance than the absolute levels. Retransfusion of unwashed cardiotomy suction blood contributes to the inflammatory response, but the balance between pro- and...
